CUTS has been working in the area of Consumer Protection, Trade, Regulation, Competition, Good Governance and Sustainable Development issues. Road Safety has been one of its focus areas and it is working intensively at national, state and local level to protect the common consumers and all forms of road users.
National Safety Council – Maharashtra Chapter was established with an objective to create occupational health & safety awareness in the industrial sector and the community at large. It addresses Road Safety issues at large by devising effective methods for practicing Road Safety to achieve the “Vision Zero” attitude among society & industry. It regularly organizes Road Safety awareness programs for school children, college students, etc. It has also developed a training module on Defensive Driving and organizing training for drivers from various fields.

SaveLIFE Foundation (SLF) is a nonprofit organisation committed to saving lives on roads in India since 2008. It is best known for securing the Good Samaritan Law for India and saving lives on highways and expressways through the “Zero-Fatality Corridor” model, an award- winning initiative. SLF’s mission is directly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 3.6 and 11.2 and the Stockholm Declaration on Road Safety.

This is in keeping with rising road crash related deaths in India.
